About the role
Your Opportunity:
This position provides comprehensive administrative support to the Departments of Psychosocial & Rehabilitation Oncology at the Cross Cancer Institute and/or Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre locations, within Supportive Care, North-Cancer Care Alberta (CCA). Overall, this positions’ roles and responsibilities include patient-facing and non-patient facing duties, to support Manager, and clinical teams. Working under minimal guidance and direction, the Admin Support demonstrates consistent initiative and utilizes enhanced skills to perform varied reception, and clerical duties for the Department. Maintain calm, supportive, and respectful communication when interacting with distressed patients, support persons and staff with multiple demands will be instrumental to this role. Patient-facing activities include first point of contact for patients/families coming in for care, responding to incoming phone calls, screening patients' presenting concerns/distress and receiving provider questions about services, relaying messages, and scheduling appointments (in-person and virtual). Waitlist management in Connect Care Work queues and triaging as per established criteria. This position involves regular communication with patients, members of the multidisciplinary team, physicians, other healthcare providers and other departments across the site for appointments, scheduling or follow-up. Non-patient facing duties include ordering supplies/education resources, scheduling rooms, relationship management; determining priorities; directing complaints or concerns to Manager; virtual bookings; supporting staff with IT issues, and correspondence management.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of a post-secondary diploma in office or business administration is required, health care related. 3 years' experience in Microsoft office programs; (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Teams, Zoom, and Netcare. Minimum 1 year experience working within Electronica Medical record (Epic -Connect care). Medical terminology training. Two or more years working with Allied health clinicians and progressive responsibility in this area of work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service and organization skills. Excellent attention to detail in meeting minutes and formatting. Effectively manage numerous interruptions: phone calls, and in person interactions calmly and courteously. Effective time management, initiative and good judgement. Balance & prioritize workload. Positive team-oriented attitude. Flexible and adaptable. Maintain confidentiality and privacy of patients/colleagues.
