We’re Hiring: Part-Time Senior Full Cycle Bookkeepers / Accounting Managers (Remote – Canada)

Achen Henderson (AH) is seeking experienced, detail-driven Part-Time Senior Bookkeepers / Accounting Managers to join our fast-growing GURU bookkeeping team. This is a long-term, flexible, remote opportunity for professionals who want to bring their deep public practice experience into a modern, cloud-based environment—without sacrificing balance or autonomy. The Role: What You’ll Do

As a Part-Time Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing the full accounting lifecycle for a portfolio of small to mid-sized businesses, all of whom rely on Achen Henderson for timely, accurate, and actionable financial reporting. Specifically, you will:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for your clients’ full-cycle accounting, overseeing all bookkeeping deliverables and managing their expectations with professionalism and clarity.

  • Collaborate with our GURU Bookkeeping team to ensure timely and accurate bookkeeping, month-end closes, reconciliations, and client reporting.

  • Liaise with our Canadian tax groups to ensure that your clients receive expert guidance on year-end, payroll, HST/GST filings, and other technical matters.

  • Implement and maintain basic accounting controls that support clean and accurate books.

  • Provide strategic direction and support to your bookkeeping team, ensuring all client deliverables meet our high standards.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and client efficiency across your portfolio.

Who We’re Looking For

This is a role for self-managed professionals. The ideal candidate is someone who brings extensive bookkeeping experience, has worked in public practice, and is comfortable taking full ownership of a client’s accounting function while working from home.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in bookkeeping, preferably within a public accounting firm.

  • Able to operate accurately, quickly and autonomously within our pre-established workflows and systems, with a very low level of professional oversight.

  • Working knowledge of Canadian tax, especially as it relates to small business clients (T2s, HST/GST, payroll, year-end prep).

  • Familiarity with CRA portals, T4/T5/T5018 preparation, and government filings.

  • Proven ability to manage client relationships, including expectation management and cross-team coordination.

  • Strong command of accounting controls and the ability to assess risk and implement structure.

  • Proficient in cloud-based accounting tools (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks Online, Dext, Hubdoc).

  • Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently within a remote-first team.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience collaborating with tax advisory teams or working within a multidisciplinary firm.

  • Experience delivering training or mentorship to junior staff or clients.
