Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with Inflector Environmental Services, one of Canada’s leading abatement and demolition contractors, to recruit a Project Manager to join their team in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Role Description:

Reporting to the Vice President and Area Manager for Atlantic Canada, the Project Manager will play a critical role in planning, executing, and overseeing a variety of hazardous material removal and demolition projects. The Project Manager will be in charge of project schedules, budgets, resources, and deliverables, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction are a top priority at all times. Moreover, you will track project health and safety, staying alert for risks and resolving issues as they arise, while maintaining standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide overall contract administration, technical expertise, and support to a variety of projects ensuring the project is completed as per scope, budget, resources, quality, and schedule;
  • Develop and implement the safety plan and lead by example for health and safety practices and procedures;
  • Manage project performance and provide performance status reports for safety, cost forecast, and schedule;
  • Negotiate and issues subcontracts, major purchase orders and progress payments and monitors their progress and schedule;
  • Manage and maintain relationships with key project stakeholders, including internal project teams, client representatives, consultants, and subcontractors;
  • Coordinate internal resources and third-party vendors to ensure the flawless execution of projects;
  • Lead the change order process as needed, including pricing and negotiations;
  • Perform risk analysis to minimize project risks, including forecasting and the development of contingency plans;
  • Develop and coordinate overall project closeout.

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the construction industry as a Project Manager, Project Coordinator, or equivalent;
  • Construction related education (certificates, diploma, degree) is an asset;
  • Experience working in the hazardous material or demolition industry would be considered a strong asset;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of construction safety principles, procedures, and legislation;
  • Strong ability to problem solve and exercise professional judgement;
  • Demonstrated experience in leading effective project meetings with customers, consultants, and internal employees;
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing team members and field crews;
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites and other operational systems as required.
