Your role

The Media Solutions team is actively seeking a highly driven and passionate Sales Manager. This pivotal role involves the comprehensive development of both short-term tactical and long-term strategic sales plans, with a strong focus on entering new markets and leveraging emerging platforms to reach a broader audience and capitalize on innovative distribution channels.

The Sales Manager is instrumental in driving revenue growth and market expansion. Your primary responsibility will be to identify, strategically target, and fully maximize all potential revenue opportunities. You will ensure revenue opportunities are identified, targeted, and maximized to their true potential, with an emphasis on expanding into new markets. You will direct account management activities to ensure they are consistent in application and practice, promote and present CBC/Radio-Canada to develop and maintain relationships in the industry (with both internal and external clients), and keep abreast of industry trends and developments, particularly concerning new technologies and business models.

As the Sales Manager, you will be directly responsible for leading and guiding our sales force in executing strategic account management initiatives. A key aspect of your role will be to proactively identify, cultivate, and secure industry partnerships that will significantly maximize our advertising and sponsorship revenue potential. Furthermore, you will be tasked with building and nurturing strong, lasting relationships with key business partners and clients, ensuring their continued engagement and satisfaction. You will present proposals at meetings with clients and prepare reports on revenue and market activity, with a specific focus on growth areas. The Sales Manager will be responsible for strategic account planning, bi-weekly revenue forecasts, and management reports, providing input for territory and business plans (including reporting, budgeting, and forecasting responsibilities), especially for new ventures.

We are looking for a candidate with the following profile:

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma or equivalent with an emphasis on business or marketing preferred
  • Five to ten years of progressive experience in the Digital advertising industry, with a proven track record in new business development and a strong understanding of emerging digital platforms. Experience on the Broadcast side of things is considered a strong asset.
  • Extensive understanding of all aspects of media sales, sales administration, and marketing functions, with specific expertise in identifying and capitalizing on new revenue streams.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a solid track record of success in securing new business and platform partnerships.
  • Extensive computer knowledge including Microsoft Office and Google products.
  • Ability to review and assimilate various forms of research and market conditions into coherent sales strategies, with a particular focus on identifying and integrating new business opportunities and emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive under pressure, juggling multiple deadlines, think and act strategically to ensure the right activities are conducted in support of business objectives, especially in fast-evolving markets.
  • Strong business management and strategic marketing skills to guide new business development analysis and ability to manage business planning and revenue forecasting for new initiatives.
  • Demonstrated superior communication (verbal and written) skills including presentation abilities, particularly for pitching new concepts and platforms.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team of people and create a culture of learning that drives individual development, with an emphasis on adapting to new business models and technologies. Experience in a unionized environment is considered a strong asset.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is essential given the level of data to be reviewed.
  • Ability to balance the needs of the organization with the requests from the client using listening skills; tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, initiative, and to effectively solve problems, particularly those related to pioneering new business areas.
  • Bilingual (English and French) is considered a strong asset.
