Who We Are The Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese (the CISVA) operates 46 schools – 40 elementary and 6 high schools. Our schools are located throughout the Greater Vancouver Area, near the best sites and attractions that Vancouver and British Columbia has to offer. Job Description CISVA is seeking applicants for the position of full time Vice-Principal at St. John Brebeuf Regional Secondary School (SJBRSS) , located in Abbotsford, B.C. SJBRSS is a co-educational, Catholic Independent Secondary School in the province of British Columbia. In addition to outstanding academic and religious education, the school enriches student learning through a comprehensive extra-curricular program.

The successful candidate will become an integral member of the school leadership team, and will:

  • Be an active, practicing Catholic (registered in a parish and have an updated Pastoral Reference Letter)
  • Be instrumental in developing an evangelizing school community which fosters a personal relationship with Jesus in the family of the Church.
  • Guide students in the pursuit of truth, beauty and goodness within the Catholic Intellectual Tradition
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively network with all members (students, parents, staff, pastors, parishioners, etc.) of the school community
  • Have excellent organizational, planning, scheduling and technological skills
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding and application of BC Ministry of Education curriculum, programs, policies, and procedures
  • Have an expertise in Curriculum that will provide leadership in the new BC Education Plan
  • Monitor best practice in instructional planning, assessment and evaluation
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing Professional Development
  • Have a working knowledge of Professional Learning Communities
  • Possess a valid Professional BC Teaching Certificate
  • Have a minimum of five years teaching experience preferably in Catholic Secondary schools
  • Have demonstrated leadership inside and outside of the school
  • Preferably have or working towards having a Master’s degree in educational leadership, religious education, or a related field

The Catholic Independent Schools of Vancouver Archdiocese are group one independent schools, receiving 50% operational funding from the ministry of education. All schools teach the prescribed ministry of education curriculum. Teachers are paid according to the qualifications and years of experience. Teachers are also eligible for the Group Benefits Program that provides medical, dental, other extended health benefits, plus a defined contribution (DC) Group Pension Plan.

Teachers interested in making a career with CISVA should apply to the Superintendent's Office. Support staff, including Education Assistants, should apply directly to the individual schools.
