The bank's Capital Markets division is undergoing a major modernization of its capital reporting and analytics environment.

As the team transitions from legacy Excel- and Access-based workflows toward a fully automated, Power BI-driven reporting ecosystem, we are seeking a Lead Data Analyst / ETL Developer to drive transformation across data pipelines, reporting, automation, and process optimization.
-
This role is ideal for someone who combines deep technical expertise in Python, SQL, ETL pipelines, data modeling, and automation with strong business acumen in financial or capital markets environments.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders, capital reporting SMEs, and technology partners to modernize data processes, streamline reporting, enhance controls, and deliver meaningful insights to the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Engineering & ETL
-
Design, build, and optimize ETL pipelines to support Capital Reporting datasets (daily, monthly, and regulatory reporting cycles).
-
Write and maintain high-performance Python scripts for automation, data reconciliation, and transformation tasks.
-
Develop advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, and optimized data extraction frameworks across multiple upstream systems.
-
Ensure all ETL processes follow best practices in version control, documentation, and production readiness.
Reporting & Power BI Modernization
-
Lead the transition from Excel-based reporting to Power BI dashboards and standardized data models.
-
Build semantic models, DAX calculations, and reusable datasets to support business-critical reporting.
-
Implement governance, refresh schedules, and source-of-truth validations for Power BI assets.
-
Integrate solutions with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) where required.
Data Analysis & Process Optimization
-
Analyze large datasets to identify data gaps, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities.
-
Document current-state processes and design future-state workflows to reduce manual touchpoints and operational risk.
-
Support process automation using VBA, macros, and scripting to replace legacy workflows.
-
Build and maintain detailed metadata, data dictionaries, and technical specifications.
Stakeholder Engagement
-
Partner with Capital Reporting SMEs, Risk, Technology, Finance, and Front Office teams to gather requirements.
-
Translate business needs into technical solutions with clarity and precision.
-
Present findings, roadmaps, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
-
Work collaboratively within a diverse team, maintaining a learner’s mindset and continuous-improvement approach.
Qualifications & Experience:
Must-Haves:
-
5-10 years of experience as a Data Analyst, ETL Developer, Data Engineer, or similar role.
-
Strong experience with:
-
Python scripting (automation, data prep, validation).
-
Advanced SQL (joins, window functions, procedures, optimization).
-
ETL development (SSIS, Informatica, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent).
-
Data modeling (dimensional modeling, semantic layers, star/snowflake schemas).
-
Power BI (dataflows, DAX, modeling, governance).
-
Version control (Git or similar).
-
Process mapping & documentation (Visio, Confluence, or similar).
-
VBA/Macros for supporting legacy workflows.
Nice-to-Haves:

Experience in Capital Markets , Risk Reporting , Finance , or Regulatory environments.

Exposure to capital reporting (RWA, EAD, SA-CCR, OSFI, Basel reporting).

Familiarity with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps).

Understanding of data lineage, controls, audit requirements, and reconciliations.
Soft Skills:
