Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Network Team Supervisor to lead our network infrastructure team. You will manage a team of 8-10 technical staff (system administrators, analysts and architects) responsible for the design, implementation, and 24/7 stability of a massive, geographically diverse network serving 214 schools, 18 administrative locations, 15,000 staff and 122,000 students. There are over 80,000 chrome books, 14,000+ desktops and laptops plus many IOT devices. Our network consists of HP/Aruba wired and wireless, Fortinet Firewalls, and a number of appliances to manage the internet. We make use of the Alberta Supernet, multiple data centres, and dark fibre to provide a high degree of redundancy of our environment.
Job Duties/Responsibilities

coordinating team priorities, workload assignments, and professional development (PD) plans
-
providing professional leadership, mentorship, and daily supervision to a team of junior to senior-level analysts
-
coordinating internal analysts and external resources to implement division-wide hardware or software changes
-
coordinating with internal teams to achieve collective successes on service delivery
-
managing budgets, purchasing and recycling associated with network hardware and software evergreening
-
developing and maintaining service management (ITIL, COBIT, NIST) and change management approaches
-
managing mid-sized projects (1–2 years in duration) with budgets exceeding $500,000
-
ensuring Architect Network solutions technology is aligned with Division goals and objectives
-
evaluating new technologies to lower total cost of ownership and offer service advantages
-
advising stakeholders on how best to use IT to meet business requirements
-
overseeing Information/Cyber Security duties, including perimeter defense, infrastructure hardening, and threat detection leading incident response, business continuity, and identity/access management (IAM) efforts
Education/Qualifications
-
technical diploma or undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field
-
supplemental formal education in Service Management, Change Management, Project Management and/or Cyber Security are preferred
-
a minimum six years related experience
-
experience with large enterprise scale networks supporting 1000s of endpoints operating in a highly available environment
-
experience with Data Center design would be beneficial
-
extensive experience in change management and the ability to align technical solutions with business and educational goals
-
excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to a non-technical audience
-
strong analytical mindset, critical thinking, and meticulous attention to detail
-
ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams
-
experience with HP/Aruba Networks will be beneficial experience creating and evaluating large scale technical requests for proposals would be beneficial
Rate of Pay
$57.23 - $73.20 per hour
Nature of Work
This position is based on-site and can require travel to schools and other Division locations.
