About the role: Reporting to the Supervisor, Technical Accounting, the Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing high quality financial information for the Mine Sites, Head Offices and other users they support to enable value added decision making. This individual supports Finance functional process standardization and continuous improvement efforts by actively participating within the shared services group and by managing themselves to effectively and efficiently complete assigned tasks in pursuit of excellence.
To be successful, we are looking for someone with advanced analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities. Someone with effective interpersonal and communication skills and who can work effectively and efficiently under pressure with minimal guidance to meet tight deadlines.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Prepare and reconcile reports for mine site contacts/project managers/Head Office; working to standardize and streamline the systems and processes to gather, analyze, interpret and report financial / statistical data
- Prepare financial transactions in compliance with corporate policies and procedures
- Assist with the accurate and timely completion of the month end close reporting
- Preparation and/or review of monthly account reconciliations
- Responsible for compliance and filing of indirect tax returns
- Prepare advanced accounting calculations, including inventory valuation, reclamation provision and cost allocations.
- Assist with the provision of quarterly and annual financial, audit and tax reporting requirements, including disclosure information
- Supervision and support of junior accounting staff
Requirements:
- A professional accounting designation (CPA)
- 5 years of accounting experience; mining experience would be considered an asset
- Working knowledge of IFRS accounting standards combined with strong technical accounting knowledge
- Excellent computer skills, particularly Excel; in addition to Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience with the Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP, SAP, Atlas XL, and SharePoint would be considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
Salary: $88,320 / year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
