Individual insurance is a major part of Canada Life’s Canadian Operations. Canada Life’s participating account is the largest in Canada with over $59 billion in assets. In Non-Par, Canada Life offers highly competitive Universal Life, Term and disability products backed by strong and diverse investment strategies.
The Analyst, Insurance Investment Strategy, will support the continued strategic push to optimize underlying insurance (Par/Non-Par) investment strategies, while ensuring continued strong internal visibility into insurance investment activity and performance. This role also provides support in the creation of external (advisor) facing documents tied to our Par investment strategy, with the goal to ultimately support and grow our large case sales.
With a singular focus on insurance investment strategy, this role supports the Manager, Investment Strategy, Insurance Solutions, while also supporting other key business areas as needed (Inforce Management and Product Support). Along with the VP, Insurance Investment Strategy, this team is a critical junction between Insurance Solutions, Investments/ALM, and Marketing/Distribution.
What you will do
- Develop a thorough understanding of Canada Life’s Par and Non-Par products, underlying investment strategies and asset classes.
- Support various internal workstreams focused on Par and Non-Par underlying investment strategies.
- Own the collection and organization of various internal and external investment related reports, as well as the annual updating of investment related slides.
- Support the collection of technical investment content included in various external facing insurance documents, such as Financial Facts. This involves timely due diligence and ensuring the accuracy of information.
- Effectively support the creation of content for internal investment strategy meetings and external stakeholder meetings.
- Assist with annual Par investment strategy competitive analysis (competitor asset mix differences, investment strategy differences, underlying asset differences).
- Create, house and update a working database of external advisor and wholesaler investment related questions, along with responses.
- Collaborate with members of Par Pricing/In force teams, providing data, insights and updates on various investment related initiatives and inquiries.
What you will bring
- CFA designation (or, working towards)
- Actuarial designation (or, working towards) is an asset
- Investment expertise and/or experience to ensure technical understanding of topics
- Solid knowledge of insurance products, particularly competitive Par product offerings
- Exceptional communication skills for dealing with various stakeholders
- Ability to effectively ask for, and be precise about, the required information needed to complete required tasks
- Ability to foster collaborative relationships across Insurance Solutions, Investments / ALM and the broader organization
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and to interact with multiple teams to deliver on successful outcomes
Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: London, Toronto, Winnipeg.
The base salary for this position is between $52,800 - $97,700 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
