About the role

Responsibilities

Randomly inspects sub-assemblies and products for compliance with established processes and specifications. Reports any discrepancies found to the appropriate Supervisor for corrective action. Randomly checks operator adherence to established standard operating procedures (SOPs). Reports any discrepancies found to the appropriate Supervisor for corrective action. Conducts a daily two-piece product teardown and grades the final results according to established Sealy guidelines. Generates and distributes a daily teardown report for Management review. Generates Corrective Action Reports (CARs) for non-conforming raw materials and/or purchased finished goods. Documents the quality discrepancy in writing and/or with pictures or drawings as required to make the problem clear to others. May work with Production Supervision, Plant Purchasing and/or the Director of Manufacturing in completing this paperwork. Reviews all work station PM logs weekly for compliance with established procedures. Reports any discrepancies to the appropriate Supervisor, Superintendent and/or Director of Manufacturing. Working with the Purchasing, audits incoming raw materials for compliance to GSM specifications. Works with Supervision, the regional QPE and suppliers to identify and correct the root cause of routine manufacturing quality issues. Working with Production Supervisors, provides training to new operators and trains existing operators in new processes. Inspects all floor sample sub-assemblies and products for compliance with Sealy GSM specifications and general cosmetic requirements. Working with the QPE, prepares a monthly quality report for the facility, participates in a monthly quality review meetings and suggests corrective actions to improve quality. Performs various quality assurance projects as assigned. Consolidates data, prepares reports and makes recommendations based on the final results

Qualifications

2-5 years prior experience in a Quality Inspection or Continuous Improvement Engineering role in a just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing environment; A degree in Engineering (or Engineering Technician), preferably in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering; Excellent organizational, time management and communication (written and verbal) skills with an ability to demonstrate adjust delivery based on the audience and their needs; Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft suite of products including Excel and PowerPoint.

Bilingual French an asset, but not a requirement
