About the role

We’re looking for dependable, hard-working individuals who take pride in showing up every day ready to contribute.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, staying active, and working outdoors in a fast-paced environment. If you already have some irrigation experience and want to continue building real, hands-on skills, we provide training and opportunities to grow within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Installing irrigation systems including mainline, laterals, sprinklers, and drip systems

  • Digging trenches and working with hand tools throughout the day

  • Working on your knees and staying active across a variety of tasks

  • Assisting with irrigation installs, repairs, start-ups, and winterization

  • Supporting landscape construction (planting, sod, soil prep, basic carpentry)

  • Operating tools and equipment safely (trenchers, compactors, saws)

  • Loading and unloading materials and maintaining organized job sites

  • Working closely with a crew to complete projects efficiently and to a high standard

  • Participating in winter work such as snow removal and anti-icing when required

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of irrigation experience

  • Strong reliability and consistency, shows up on time and ready to work

  • Physically capable and comfortable with active, outdoor work

  • Able to maintain a steady, productive pace throughout the day

  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and improve

  • Team-oriented and able to take direction

  • Class 5 Driver’s License (is an asset)

  • Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT) Certification is an asset

  • Experience with irrigation components or reading plans (is an asset)

Compensation

$25-$30 per hour depending on skills and experience.

Schedule:

  • Regular: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM -Seasonal Hours (Approx. from May to September 2026):Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM

**Work Location:**Different Greater Victoria work sites.

Garden City Tree & Landscape Ltd was founded by Chris Stansfield approximately 15 yrs ago. The company has grown to 35 full time staff that includes office administration, Human Resource Technician, Risk manager, Estimator and managers of each of its divisions (Arbor, Maintenance, Install, Irrigation, Equipment). Chris Stansfield is President and co owner. Colin Eaton is Vice President and co owner. The two owners have known each other since their early teens and have developed a respectful working relationship. Chris and Colin grew up in the small community of Rossland, B.C. where they experienced first hand core values that are the focal point of its operations: Respect for Individuals, Safe work Environment, Peer Support, Accountabiity Quality Workmanship Client Experience With these core values as our focal point, we continue to hire quality people that perform quality work.
