38.75 hours per week, 1.0 FTE Monday-Friday, 8am - 4:15pm

Reporting to the Director, Resident Care, the Educator will coordinate and

deliver facility wide educational programming, including general orientation, in-services, competency and general staff development programming for a variety of disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Include, but not limited to educational needs assessment/analysis,
  • Planning, program development, delivery
  • Coordination and evaluation,
  • Working closely with an outside provider for mandatory in-services.
  • Coordinate student affiliation programs, CPR & First Aid training; RAI/MDS and POC Education, do N95 fit testing,
  • Education for Family Involvement Volunteer Program, influenza and covid immunization for staff,
  • Coordinate food safety courses, PPE Coach,
  • Hand hygiene Audits.
  • The Educator is a St. Michael’s IPC Committee Member, and a Member of the Continuing Care Educators Group.

Our Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse, or a Licensed Practical Nurse,
  • Training and experience in adult education.
  • Experience in delivering education in a health care setting is preferred.
  • The successful candidate will be a quick learner, with the ability to manage multiple projects,
  • Demonstrate exceptional problem solving skills, be innovative, has creativity, and initiative and be a self-starter.
  • Strong organization skills, communication skills, demonstrated leadership, personal integrity and the ability to build strong relationships are essential.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification is preferred. Must have Microsoft Office skills (intermediate level).
  • Candidate must possess current registration with CRNA or CLHA.

  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all privacy legislation (AITA, POPA, HIA).
  • Comply with corporate policies, procedures, OH&S standards, and emergency preparedness protocols.
  • Actively participate in professional development and support a positive workplace culture

All successful candidates must have, before the start date

  • A current and clear Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check that has been obtained no more than 90 calendar days prior to the hire date.
  • A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months before the hire date.
