The Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) provides the residents of the Northwest Territories with access to quality programs, services and support to assist them in making informed and productive choices for themselves and their families with regard to education, training, careers, employment and labour, child development, languages, culture and heritage.
Job Information
Are you passionate about improving access to quality higher education in the North? The Post-Secondary Education Coordinator plays a key role in shaping, implementing, and evaluating programs, policies, and initiatives that strengthen post-secondary and adult education across the Northwest Territories. This position helps ensure that institutions meet high standards and that learning opportunities align with labour market needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, develop, and implement policies, programs, and frameworks that enhance advanced education in the NWT.
- Evaluate and monitor post-secondary and adult education programs to ensure compliance with territorial and national standards.
- Lead and support partnerships with institutions, governments, and stakeholders to promote accessible and high-quality education.
- Administer initiatives such as GED, Adult Recognition Model, and Prior Learning Assessment Recognition.
- Provide expert advice and strategic guidance on education planning, funding, and program development.
Key Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Public Administration, Adult Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years (3) of experience in policy development, program planning, or post-secondary education.
- Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and managing complex projects.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles, education systems, and labour market trends.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Equivalencies may include:

Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Adult Education or related field and one (1) year of experience in policy development, program planning, or post-secondary education.

Diploma in Business Administration Public Administration, Adult Education or related field, and five (5) years of experience of relevant policy or planning experience

Certificate in Adult Education Business Administration Public Administration, and six (6) years of experience in policy development, program planning, or post-secondary education.
