Position: Maintenance Mechanic

Status: Permanent Full Time
Hours of Work/Shifts: Monday-Friday plus occasional weekends / 8:00am-4:00pm; plus additional on-call hours required
Site: Mississauga Hospital (with the flexibility to travel across sites for operational needs)

Key Qualifications:
- Post secondary technical education
- Valid Certificate of Qualification as issued by the Ministry of Labour, preferably Industrial Mechanic (Millwright).
- Minimum of two to three years experience, preferably in an institutional environment
- Troubleshoots repairs or replaces all types of mechanical equipment including but not limited to pumps, motors, fans, air handling units, kitchen equipment and automatic doors throughout the facility, indoor and outdoor.
- Troubleshoots repairs or replaces wheeled and patient care equipment such as different types of carts, wheelchair, stretcher, patient bed, patient lift, Balkan frame and any other hardware and structure as deemed necessary throughout the facility including patient rooms and treatment areas.
- Uses hand tools, power tools and instruments to Inspect, calibrate, align and overhauls a variety of mechanical and wheeled equipment as well as different type of automatic doors throughout the facility
- Replaces or repairs belt, pulley, bearing, gear, mechanical seal, impeller, shaft, radiator, coolant or hydraulic hoses and any other moving parts in any mechanical equipment/device
- Cleans and lubricates moving parts as deemed necessary
- Welds, brazes, and solders as is necessary
- Performs schedule preventive maintenance on all mechanical equipment
- Ability to read blue prints, work from sketches and/or verbal instructions
- Must possess good trouble-shooting and customer service skills
- Ability to work as part of a diverse working team of professionals and clients
Position Summary:
- Perform preventative maintenance checks as assigned
- Install / assist in installation of new equipment in accordance with blueprints, specifications written and/or verbal instructions
- Calculate quantity of materials needed
- Prepare requisitions for mechanical parts as needed
- Fabricate equipment as needed
- Work with trades staff to repair electronic, mechanical, refrigeration and plumbing systems as needed
- Maintain open and timely communication with team members and management staff
- Similar with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems Maintains excellent customer relations and communications throughout facility
