JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Head of Markets Technology, the Jr. Java Developer works within the Information Technology (IT) team to develop internal APIs for applications and evolve internal and external web-based applications.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Designs, builds and tests secure APIs, services, and applications as per requirements to meet the needs of various internal and external client users and the overall solution. Troubleshoots, tunes and maintains distributed cloud applications. Assists in code, performance optimization and configuration of applications. Performs other duties, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in IT-related field is required. Experience in relevant coop placement positions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proven problem-solving skills and superb analytical skills, with the ability to think “outside the box” to resolve problems. Excellent proficiency with Java / Web ecosystem, with strong back-end and messaging skills. Excellent proficiency with microservices and related technologies; Spring framework, messaging technologies (MS, Kafka, MQ or equivalent). Strong SQL experience preferably with MY SQL modelling experience for RDBMS. Advanced understanding of design patterns in the context of distributed systems, SOA. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively clarify complex technical issues and concepts in a business-friendly manner to various audiences. Strong organizational skills, with the abilities to manage multiple deliverables in a time-sensitive environment and adapt to frequently changing priorities. Ability to work effectively within a team, as well as independently. Must be available for occasional after-hours work, typically through remote access.
Working knowledge of the following is an asset
