Certified Education Assistants On-Call
About the role
**School District No. 83 is presently seeking for **
Certified Education Assistants
School District No. 83 (K̓wsaltktnéws ne Secwepemcúl'ecw) is seeking qualified, certified Education Assistants to join our on-call (spare) roster, supporting schools across the district. This unionized position offers an hourly rate of $28.29 and is scheduled only on days when students are in session. Successful candidates will also have opportunities to apply for internal part-time and full-time positions as they become available.
Qualifications Required:
- Grade twelve plus the completion of accredited Certified Education Assistant Certificate or equivalent recent experience supporting students with diverse needs (including physical, developmental, behavioural, or learning challenges).
- Minimum of four (4) months' recent successful experience working with children in a structured classroom or program setting.
- Demonstrated ability to respond to students with patience, consistency, and empathy, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Ability to learn and perform personal and specialized care procedures.
- Proven ability to work effectively with teachers, school staff, and support service personnel, often with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement in sensitive situations.
- Strong basic computer skills.
- Physical capability to perform all duties associated with the position.
- Must have a class 5 driver's license and reliable vehicle.
