About the Role

We’re seeking a reliable Maintenance/Cleaner to maintain cleanliness and perform light repairs in our nursing lab in Prince George. The Maintenance Cleaner is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of all areas within our nursing laboratories, while also performing light maintenance tasks to maintain a safe and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role combines cleaning duties with general maintenance responsibilities, ensuring the college remains welcoming and in excellent condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting classrooms, laboratories, bathrooms, and common areas.
  • Receive and assist with the installation of specialized medical and laboratory equipment.
  • Laundry drop-off/pick-up only.
  • Address minor repairs, such as fixing leaky faucets, replacing lightbulbs, and patching walls.
  • Maintain floors by performing periodic deep cleaning or waxing.
  • Monitor and stock cleaning supplies and lab equipment.
  • Dispose of waste and recycling appropriately and manage trash removal.
  • Report larger repair or maintenance needs to the Facilities Manager.
  • Promote a clean and safe environment for all students and staff.
  • Maintain and care for tools, equipment, and materials used in building maintenance.
  • Ensure all building access systems, including doors and elevators, are secure and fully operational, especially during and after lab hours.
  • Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and functional environment for all students, faculty, and staff.

Please note: Laboratories operate once a month for a period of 5 days. Cleaning will need to take place exclusively during these days. Deliveries are managed in coordination with the facilities team and scheduled in advance. Work hours will be planned accordingly, but they may vary within those 5 days and will not follow a fixed number of hours per week.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in building maintenance, with knowledge of repair practices and preventative maintenance methods.
  • Driver License and vehicle required.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge (low voltage) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with cleaning and maintenance supplies, tools, and safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and their procedures.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety measures and practices.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
  • A commitment to integrity, professionalism, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
