Role Overview
The Drafter supports project delivery by translating architectural, structural, and design concepts into accurate technical drawings and fabrication documentation. This role works closely with project managers, sales teams, operations, and fabrication teams to ensure designs are clearly documented and ready for approval, fabrication, and installation.
Success in this role means drawings are accurate, clear, and submitted on time so projects move smoothly from design to fabrication and installation. You identify potential design conflicts early, maintain organized drawing records, and help teams coordinate effectively by ensuring everyone is working from accurate and updated information. Over time, projects move more efficiently because documentation is prepared proactively, issues are identified early, and communication between design, fabrication, and project teams is well coordinated.

What You Bring to the Table
Technical Skills
- 2–5 years experience preparing shop drawings in a construction or manufacturing environment
- Post secondary education in Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Ability to independently to produce shop drawings and revisions
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software
- Ability to read architectural and structural drawings
- Experience preparing shop drawings and fabrication drawings
Attributes
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Ability to identify discrepancies in drawings and specifications
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple drawing revisions
- Clear communication with project managers, sales teams, clients, and fabrication teams

Duties & Responsibilities
- Review and interpret architectural, structural, and construction drawings to understand project scope, system requirements, and technical specifications.
- Prepare detailed shop drawings and technical drawings for project approval, fabrication, and field installation in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Develop fabrication drawings and supporting documentation that clearly define materials, dimensions, assembly methods, and installation requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, sales teams, and operations staff to resolve design issues and ensure drawings align with project requirements.
- Revise and update drawings based on project feedback, site conditions, or design changes, ensuring all revisions are properly documented and communicated.
- Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, building codes, and internal quality standards before submission for approval or fabrication.
- Prepare and maintain supporting documentation including bills of materials, drawing logs, and technical records where required.
- Maintain organized project drawing files and databases, ensuring documentation is accurate, current, and accessible to project teams.
- Participate in project coordination activities, including design reviews, internal meetings, and occasional site visits to verify field conditions and measurements.
- Identify opportunities to improve drafting processes, drawing accuracy, and documentation standards while supporting continuous improvement within the design and project teams.
