About the Job
Retail operations for Moores Distribution Center at our Cambridge, ON distribution center are seeking a hard-working, dependable, enthusiastic, and motivated seasonal team player to join their team. The primary responsibility of this position is to process and ensure the accuracy of the distribution center merchandise while participating in providing assistance to management with the daily fulfillment operations. Perform in accordance with company guidelines in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities:
The responsibilities of this seasonal position consist of but are not limited to the following:
- Stocking merchandise in designated picking/stocking locations by SKU. This will include inspecting the merchandise for damage and insuring accuracy.
- Quickly and accurately pick inventory to fill customer requisitions and orders.
- Packaging merchandise for customer orders. This includes inspection for quality and auditing for accuracy of the individual order.
- Tag or re-tag merchandise as needed.
- Perform inventory cycle counts of products/merchandise as required.
- Meet production standards set by management.
- Provide immediate feedback to management regarding discrepancies.
- Contribute to building a positive team spirit and supporting company’s goals and objectives.
- Always promote safe work practices to ensure a safe work environment and report all maintenance or safety issues requiring corrective action.
- Help to maintain a clean and neat work environment.
- Assist in all other areas of the distribution center
Skills & Experience:
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Prior experience in a production/distribution/warehouse environment.
- You must have at least one (1) year of processing experience in a fast-paced, high-volume distribution center environment.
- Must have at least one (1) year of experience in the use of warehouse technology including RF scanners to perform daily functions.
- Must have basic knowledge of computer (PC) skills.
- Knowledgeable in the use of warehouse management systems (Manhattan WMS preferred but not required).
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions and have good command of the English language (speak, read, write) to perform necessary job functions.
- Ability to meet productivity standards and complete work in a timely manner.
- Good attendance/punctuality record; consistently at work and on time.
- Good math and counting skills (must be able to pass a basic math and reasoning assessment).
- Ability to read labels and locations accurately.
- Self-motivated with willingness to take on new tasks, challenges, and opportunities.
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Must have excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Ability to meet production quotas and rate-per-hour.
- Must always maintain a professional and positive attitude with the highest level of customer service.
- Dependable team players are willing to do what it takes to get the job done. Flexible scheduling is required based on business needs (i.e., increased hours, weekends, holidays, and volume of work, staff shortages, etc.)
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment setting with physical demands that include continuous standing, walking, sitting, use of hands and fingers, grasping, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, stretching, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, working and reaching overhead, using ladders or lifts, and frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more
- Ability to use handling equipment and machinery including sorter systems, conveyors, RF guns, metal hooks, plastic bags, plastic packaging, cardboard boxes, tape dispensers, and other materials necessary to the production and packaging of our merchandise.
