Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position will manage all HR activities for Metalogic. The role interacts with all employees and must maintain consistent and open communication with the union representatives.
Primary Job Functions
Strategic and Employee Leadership
- Responsible for leading, mentoring and growing a team of high-performing individuals who will work together to establish Metalogic as a continued leader in the NDT industry.
- Ensure the corporate HR system is maintained and audited for accuracy and efficiency.
- Manage employee relation issues in the organization in accordance with accepted HR practices and policies including performance.
- Keep up to date on bargaining unit guidelines and agreements.
- Maintain organizational goals and objectives while planning, organizing, integrating, measuring, and reporting the work performed within the business line.
HR Management
- Collaborate with key business leaders in developing the annual HR strategy and garnering buy-in from the senior management team.
- Lead the HR initiatives to execute on the people strategy, while focusing on increasing employee engagement and creating a high-performance workplace culture.
- Support managers in key talent management decisions, workforce planning, recruitment, and employee/labor relations matters.
- Lead the creation and implementation of company policies and procedures, aligned to industry trends, making recommendations, and supporting the review of employee compensation as necessary.
- Ensure the development of meaningful recruitment and retention initiatives to attract talent.
- Maintain an equitable and collaborative approach with Metalogic’s bargaining unit leadership and members.
- Manage training and other overhead funding through grants such as Canada Alberta Job Grant, including adherence to grant requirements and reimbursement of funds, through means such as the NDT Training Trust Fund.
- Assist with maintenance of compliance programs.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Commerce or Business Administration, specializing in Human Resources.
- CPHR designation is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of human resources experience within a unionized environment.
- Knowledge of employment legislation, collective agreement management, recruitment techniques, policy development, techniques of training and development, and organizational design strategies.
- Exhibit strong personal values, integrity and hands-on work habits.
- Ability to 'think outside the box', has a proven track record of creative problem-solving.
- Highly energetic with a strong work ethic; exhibits contagious enthusiasm.
- Comfortable with managing multiple projects and multi-tasking.
