The Company:
We are famous for being the creators of the world's first compostable phone case and our latest leading-edge innovation Lomi, the must-have smart-waste appliance for your home. We're fast-moving and on a mission to build something bold—and we're doing it quickly. Our environment is dynamic and constantly evolving. If you thrive in uncertainty, love solving problems and prefer action over perfection, you'll fit right in. We value ownership, initiative, and the ability to just get sh*t done. Success here means being comfortable with a 90% solution, moving fast, and iterating even faster. It's challenging, it's exciting, and it's definitely not boring. If you're looking for a place where you can grow fast, wear a lot of hats, and make a real impact— we welcome you to join a group of innovators who are committed to creating a waste-free future. This role is based in Kelowna, BC and is an in-office hybrid role.
The Opportunity:
We are looking for an accountant to join the finance team. Reporting to the Manager of Finance, this position will play a critical role in financial operations and ensure accurate financial reporting. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join a growing and highly motivated finance team.
We'd love to welcome someone who already calls Kelowna, BC home—or who's eager to make the move to our vibrant, picturesque city. Our HQ is a stunning hub for creativity and connection, and our digital-first hybrid culture means you'll collaborate with teammates in person each week and across Canada every day.
In this role, you'll:
- Take ownership of key financial statement areas for the consolidated business.
- Support the consolidated month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (ASPE), tax regulations, and other financial reporting requirements.
- Assisting in the year-end audit process
- Manage and submit government filings, such as tax returns and regulatory reports.
- Support in enhancing financial reporting processes and policies, systems, internal control environments, and identify process changes and improvements.
- Learn the intricacies of a physical consumer product business operating in an omnichannel environment
- Join a growth mindset culture: Learn fast, take ownership, and help build something that lasts.
- Work on some cool projects, including supporting the launch of new products/lines of business, process improvements, system implementations, etc.
Our ideal team member:
- Has 2+ years of accounting experience with a CPA designation (or working towards a CPA)
- Experience with Netsuite or a similar large ERP
- Pays close attention to details and can review their own work thoroughly
- Is naturally curious; if something seems off, you want to figure out what is going on
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across diverse teams
- May have corporate indirect tax experience - this is an asset
