SENIOR SYSTEMS INTEGRATOR
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES | TECHNICAL PROJECTS
OTTAWA | ON SITE
Our Senior Systems Integrators are responsible for accurate and timely completion of all projects assigned to them. The primary focus for the SSI is client on-boarding, client infrastructure architecture (cloud, On Premises and Hybrid), project design and project execution. SSIs are also responsible for projects relating to internal strategic objectives and maintaining their position as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). The ideal candidate must enjoy training, mentoring, and sharing their expertise, as well as tackling the most complex and technically advanced problems effectively and efficiently. They get to interface with a myriad of environments and technologies across our entire customer base during the project lifecycle. SSIs work closely with the Support Services and Business Services teams before, during and after implementation to ensure visibility on all project work. They attend project kick off meetings, internal and external, and after-action review meetings regularly. Senior Systems Integrators display confidence and comprehensive knowledge of the project work to be performed at client facing meetings. SSIs are the face of Professional Services and are expected to practice empathy, patience, and compassion.
WHAT DO OUR SENIOR SYSTEMS INTEGRATOR DO?
- SSIs availability must be maintained to assist your teammates as an SME. Expect to travel in and out of the local area (including overnight stays) as needed.
- Ensure the timely completion of all project work assigned, completing all tasks relating to the project both explicit and implicit.
- Execute the most technically complex projects and any projects related to cutting edge technologies.
- Function as the Onboarding Engineer (OBE) for all new client onboardings assigned. This includes performing all assigned tasks outlined in the onboarding work plan and attending client facing meetings as needed.
- Install and configure Windows Servers, peripherals, network devices and storage devices in accordance with internal standards and project requirements.
- Develop, document, and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
- Regularly communicate internally and externally on project statuses and planned changes/outages for clients.
- Mentor other technical staff to help ensure that everyone is growing professionally, and that knowledge of client infrastructure is being disseminated throughout the organization.
- Develop Scope of Work and Work Plan documents according to standards for the Project Design process and attend all Project Design related meetings outlined in the Project Lifecycle SOP.
- As an SME, be responsible for maintaining your proficiencies through a variety of training opportunities.
- Other relevant job duties as assigned.
WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED TO BE A SUCCESSFUL SENIOR SYSTEMS INTEGRATOR?
- Patience, empathy, confidence, and customer service skills. You will be working with a myriad of businesses, technologies, applications, vendors, and personalities.
- Exceptionally strong IT background with a focus on network support, implementation, and remote as well as onsite support.
- Solid experience with Windows and Mac OS desktop operating systems.
- Experience with deploying and building Windows servers (troubleshooting, supporting, and implementing) including Exchange Server 2010-2019 and Office 365.
- Knowledge and understanding of mail flow troubleshooting.
- Experience with VPN remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
- Experience with Active Directory (OnPrem & Azure) and Group Policies.
- Experience with the Microsoft 365 stack, including Office 365, SharePoint, and Azure.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies.
- Knowledge of firewalls, networking/routing (switches, routers, etc.), networking security and wireless configurations.
- Fortinet/SonicWall stack experience, including but not limited to switches, access points & firewalls.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with backup and recovery software included within our service catalog and methodologies.
- Act as an SME in one or more of our service catalog product lines.
- Understanding of managed services and the value offered over a typical break-fix environment.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and documentation skills at all levels internally and externally, interpersonal, business management, time management, and developmental skills.
- Skilled at defusing high-stress situations and facilitating resolution to technical problems.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Talented interpersonal abilities to build rapport with customers and teammates alike.
- Self-starter with a positive attitude.
- Strong sense of initiative and ownership over work.
- Exceptional strong problem solving, planning skills and follow-through skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team s well as independently; ensuring assigned tasks are completed with minimal supervision.
WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS I NEED TO HAVE?
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 8+ years of relevant experience which may include Network Administrator, Systems Administrator, System Engineer, or Tier 2 (or similar) in a tiered environment.
- Understanding of, and a background in working within the IT managed services provider business model, particularly in an IT support role.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with IT and related hardware and software components (PCs, laptops, servers, firewalls, switches, routers, hard drives, Windows operating systems, etc.)
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting, optimizing and managing most of the following hardware/software technologies & protocols: Windows Operating Systems, Office 365 mail management and migrations, Office 365 SharePoint deployments, Enterprise Storage Systems, VMware vCenter and Hyper-V, Fortinet, SonicWall, Dell and HP infrastructures.
- Previous experience providing both onsite and remote/phone support in a fast paced, high volume environment.
- Previous experience executing medium to large scale IT projects which may include Email migrations, infrastructure refreshes and similar scale work efforts.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
WOULD BE AWESOME IF YOU HAD...
- Associate degree/college diploma or higher in Information Technology.
- High level security clearance.
- Experience with ConnectWise, Kaseya, or other similar MSP tools and software.
- Professional IT Certifications, such as: MTA, MCSA, or MCSE, SonicWall CSSA, Cisco CCNA, Fortinet NSE, VMware VCP
- What is the physical work environment like?
WHAT IS THE PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT LIKE?
- This position requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands, seeing, reaching, talking, and hearing. May need to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Normal office working conditions. Work requires regular sitting/standing at a desk, working with a computer. This position requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands, seeing, reaching, talking, writing, and hearing; it may require occasionally carrying or lifting equipment if working on-site.
- Position may require hours that exceed normal working hours per day during peak periods; on-call or travel work may include nights or weekends
- Position requires regular contact with others - in meetings, by phone or by email.
- Interactions focus on data collection, problem solving, needs analysis and technical training development. Interactions are initiated in person or electronically.
- Position may require some travel to Convergence or client sites.
