The Post Trade Risk Management team at TMX ensures the Canadian Depository for Securities (CDS) and Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation (CDCC) financial risks are managed according to TMX's risk appetite and policy. Applying a matrix structure for first and second line of defense, the team manages credit, market, liquidity, model, and operational risks using sophisticated tools and collaborates with internal and external partners. As systemically important entities, TMX Post Trade ensures market integrity and stability, meeting G20 commitments.
Reporting to the Manager of the CDCC Risk Monitoring team , the Analyst, Risk Monitoring will primarily focus on daily risk reporting and analysis. This role also involves conducting studies, developing and implementing risk management tools, and contributing to the ongoing enhancement of risk management policies. Furthermore, the Analyst will collaborate closely with other Risk Management teams.
This role is hybrid (2 - 3 days/week in the office) - based in Montreal, QC.
Key Accountabilities:
- Produce timely, accurate risk parameters and analysis related to exchange-traded derivative products and cleared OTC markets
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis on market, liquidity and credit risks and produce various risk reports for CDCC management and Board of Directors
- Contribute to the risk analysis of new products or initiatives and assess the impact of these on CDCC’s risk processes and measures
- Develop new risk management processes and support the maintenance of related procedures to meet the business and regulatory requirements
- Utilize programming skills to optimize current risk management processes with analytics tools ensuring that effective controls are in place
- Provide assistance to identify the production related incidents, perform root cause analysis and present findings/solutions based on the understanding of the business
- Proactively assist with ad-hoc request from external partners (Clearing Members, Regulators, etc) to provide insights and integrated data related to CDCC clearing service
- Create the risk testing cases/strategies and support the risk validations in UAT to ensure the smooth implementation of business and IT delivery
- Collaborate with multiple working groups (e.g., Information Technology, Risk Architecture, CDCC Operations, etc.) on projects that relate to risk management
Must haves:
- A Master degree in finance, financial engineering or a Bachelor degree in finance, financial engineering or the equivalent with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
- Relevant risk management experience in fixed income or derivatives preferred
- Knowledge of SQL language or other database query tools
- Experience in data analytics, data visualisation (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) and reporting
- Strong attention to detail
- Self-starter who is proactive and capable of working independently
- Strong interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment
- Ability to reflect, summarize, and present sophisticated ideas
Nice to haves:
- Experience in Python, Matlab, VBA or other programming languages
- Experience in Bloomberg
- Experience with equity TRS swap products (products, market structure, risk management)
- Fluency in both French and English (written and spoken) is an asset, as this role involves regular interaction with partners and stakeholders in both languages
