About the role
Overview We are seeking a professional and organized Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for visitors and callers, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support. This role requires strong communication skills, proficiency with office software, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Experience in medical or dental offices is a plus, but not required. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop administrative skills within a supportive team.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patients in a professional and friendly manner
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow throughout the day
- Maintain accurate patient records using ODOffice Pro software
- Perform preliminary diagnostic testing and pre-screening procedures, including visual field testing and intraocular pressure measurements
- Assist the optometrist with patient preparation and clinic workflow
- Process referrals, referrals follow-ups, and coordinate communication with other healthcare providers
- Handle incoming phone calls, emails, and patient inquiries
- Manage billing, insurance submissions, and other front-desk administrative duties
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of reception and testing areas
- Support overall clinic operations and provide exceptional patient care experience
Experience
- Previous office experience preferred, especially in clerical or administrative roles
- Previous experience in an optometry, ophthalmology, or medical office is considered an asset
- Experience with ODOffice Pro or similar EMR/practice management software preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Comfortable learning and operating diagnostic equipment
- Professional, reliable, and patient-focused attitude
- Proficiency with computers and administrative tasks
Pay: $17.20-$20.00 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Bolton, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
