This will enable its 7 member hospitals across 14 sites to deliver high quality and safe patient care using the shared Epic Clinical Information System (“CIS”) to over 1.5 million patients residing in both rural and urban communities located in the Central East region of Ontario. Job Description: The Clinical Informatics Optimization & Training Practicum Student will support Scarborough Health Network’s Epic optimization and digital adoption initiatives. The role focuses on building and strengthening SHN’s Super User and training programs, improving Epic onboarding and ongoing education, and supporting communication and awareness of system updates. The student will contribute tangible deliverables that support CIS optimization priorities, including HIMSS EMRAM Stage 7 readiness and sustained value realization from Epic. Project Scope · Support the design and refresh of SHN’s Epic Super User Program, including role definitions, expectations, onboarding materials, and engagement model · Contribute to the development of a more robust Epic onboarding and training framework, including learning pathways and supporting materials · Assist with communication and awareness initiatives related to Epic upgrades, optimization efforts, and release cycles · Support evaluation and documentation of workflow adoption and training effectiveness · Contribute to selected CIS optimization and HIMSS Stage 7–related initiatives · Produce practical deliverables and handover documentation Key Responsibilities · Conduct current-state reviews and gap analyses of Super User, training, and onboarding practices · Develop or refine Super User and training artifacts and learning materials · Support stakeholder engagement with clinical, operational, and digital teams · Assist with development of communication plans for Epic updates and optimizations · Track and summarize adoption and training metrics · Support documentation and reporting related to CIS optimization and HIMSS readiness Required Qualifications · Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate-level program in Health Informatics (e.g., U of T MHI) · Foundational understanding of healthcare information systems · Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills · Strong written and verbal communication skills · Interest in clinical systems optimization and change management Preferred Assets · Familiarity with Epic or other enterprise clinical systems · Exposure to training design or change management frameworks · Knowledge of healthcare governance or digital transformation · Interest in HIMSS EMRAM or digital maturity models This opportunity is posted to support the recruitment of an existing vacant position.
