About the role
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Tasks: Professionalism in customer service. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks). Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Maintenance and repair reports. Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles). Tractor-trailer. Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul. National. Provincial/territorial. Regional. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel for extended periods. Willing to travel overnight. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Sitting. Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Flexibility. Judgement. Organized. Reliability.
