About the role

Weldco Heavy Industries (WHI) is a large steel fabrication and repair facility located in the Fort McKay Caribou Energy Park. Strategically positioned in the heart of Alberta’s Oil Sands, WHI is able to effectively meet the requirements for large steel repair, assembly and refurbishment in the industry.

Weldco Heavy Industries is currently recruiting a Journeyperson Welders for the Fort MacKay location on a 14-days on*/ 14-days off rotation, 12-hour shifts*. Reporting to the Shop Foreman your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following;

What you will do:

Repair/rebuild of large mining equipment including; heavy haul truck boxes, dozer blades, shovel clam/backwall dippers

What you bring to the position:

  • Proficiency in all position use of: GMAW, FCAW, SMAW; all sizes of weld wire
  • Reading and interpretation of blueprints
  • Proficient in the use of oxy/fuel cutting equipment, electric welding machines
  • Active participation in Safety Programs
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work environment at all times
  • Preference will be given to applicants that have worked on Oil Sands sites and demonstrate sustained safety consciousness

Your qualifications:

  • Certified Red Seal or Alberta Journeyperson Welder
  • One year of experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Valid fall protection & elevated work platform certificate
  • Additional valid safety certifications is an asset
