From our robotic dog Flint to Canada’s first robot-coaster, R05iE, and a 15-acre outdoor park exploring the science of the developing brain, Spark is a hub for creativity, discovery, and community connection.
Position Overview
Spark is currently recruiting a permanent, hourly Coordinator, Sales and Events. The role reports directly to Manager, Sales and Events.
The Coordinator, Sales and Events will work on planning and executions of facility’s externally booked variours events for food and beverage service of events, , inventory control, assisting in scheduling, and working directly with varius teams while achieving the required outcomes with time spans of up to 1 year.
Due to the nature of this position, the employee will be required to work some nights, weekends and/or holidays.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain a strong team of employees focused on a high level of professional service and guest satisfaction.

Assist Sales and Events Manger from event estimates to final invoices
-
Oversee event logistical planning once the contract has been signed
-
Oversee the execution of the events - Day-to-day management of the catering and event operation. Including providing direction and leadership and collaborating with other departments (custodial, security and AV) on the day of the event.

Responsible for admin duties such as emails, event –related documentation (BEOs, estimates, invoices, cotracts, etc), etc
-
Proactively identify needs or issues that are or will impact guests and act accordingly.

Protect employees and customers by providing a safe and clean environment.
-
Ensure all elements of the guest journey are held to the highest standard.

Ensure personal and team activities are aligned with Spark’s business and strategic goals as a whole.

Model high performance, flexibility and kindness in a rapidly changing growth environment.

Other duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications & Knowledge
-
Event Management diploma/degree or A minimum of 1-2 years experience or expertise in event planning
-
Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office. Knowledge of any event planning softwares is a bonus
-
An active listener who is also a confident, articulate, concise, factual and intuitive communicator able to interact at multiple levels internally and externally as needed.

Able to lead a results-driven service team that still focuses on guest expectation and satisfaction.

Flexible work schedule, requiring to work various events and functions outside regular business hours, on weekends and holidays.

A proven track record of adding value to an organization’s culture and initiatives.

A positive attitude!

Desire to work on a high-performing team with a continuous upgrading culture to achieve high-impact results.

Willingness to learn and adapt to change.
