Payroll Administrator

We’re looking for a Payroll Administrator to join our team in High Level, Alberta or Vernon, British Columbia. We are dedicated to supporting our operations and delivering exceptional payroll and benefits services for all employees.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

Minimum three years of related experience (or equivalent education/experience) in full-cycle payroll and benefits administration, ideally in a unionized environment.

Demonstrated experience with UKG Pro and Workforce Management systems.

Working knowledge of benefits administration, labour legislation, WCB, and CRA requirements.

PCP designation (or in progress) with the Canadian Payroll Association; CEBS certification is an asset.

Strong analytical and accounting skills, including payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations.

Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet critical deadlines.

Effective communication and service-oriented mindset, fostering positive relationships across all levels.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Word and Outlook.

In this role, you will:

Accurately process bi-weekly payroll for unionized hourly employees in UKG Pro, ensuring compliance with collective agreements, company policies, and deadlines.

Review and validate employee timecards, attendance records, and overtime to promptly resolve discrepancies.
-
Perform month-end close activities, including payroll-related journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations with high accuracy.

Assist with remittances and reporting for union and non-union retirement plans (DC & DB), RRSP contributions, and statutory withholdings.

Complete all payroll year-end duties, including reports, taxable benefits, T4s, and payroll tax filings.

Stay updated on labor laws, tax regulations, and union agreements to ensure payroll compliance.

Create and maintain documentation (SOPs, user guides) to support payroll processes and compliance.

Work closely with management team to provide reporting and payroll analysis.

Deliver exceptional support to employees by addressing pay-related inquiries professionally and empathetically, and recommend process improvements based on inquiry trends.

If working out of the Vernon, BC office, travel to High Level will be required approximately once per quarter.
