About the role

Program Host – Street Voices Media Training Program Street Voices Fixed-Term Independent Contractor Street Voices is seeking a Program Host to support our upcoming Media Training Program, taking place from August to November 2026. This 16-week workshop series will support participants in building hands-on skills in photojournalism, videography, podcasting, and networking. The Program Host will serve as one of the main faces and voices of the program. This role is ideal for someone who is confident, welcoming, organized, and comfortable engaging with participants, facilitators, and program staff in a community-based learning environment. Program Details Program Dates: August 5 – November 25, 2026 Schedule: Wednesdays, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Workshop Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Location: Social Art Studio Space (S.A.S.S.) 180 Shaw Street, Toronto, ON – Lower Level & Online Compensation: $200 per month Contract Type: Part-Time Contractor Start Date: ASAP Role Overview The Program Host will help create a welcoming, organized, and engaging experience for participants throughout the Media Training Program. This person will be responsible for making announcements, introducing workshops, supporting participant engagement, and acting as a go-to person during program sessions. The Program Host will work closely with the Program Coordinator, Program Assistant, facilitators, and the Founder/Executive Director, Joel Zola, to ensure that each session runs smoothly and that participants feel supported. Key Responsibilities Welcome participants, facilitators, and guests at each session. Make announcements and introduce workshops, facilitators, and program activities. Support the flow of each session by helping participants understand the schedule, expectations, and workshop format. Lead or support icebreakers, introductions, and light engagement activities when needed. Act as a visible and approachable go-to person for participants during the program. Read participant applications and support the team in understanding participant needs, interests, and backgrounds. Help ensure participants feel comfortable, included, and supported throughout the program. Support the Program Assistant with attendance, communications, logistics, and general on-site needs. Assist with participant questions, directions, and basic troubleshooting during workshops. Support marketing and promotional efforts related to the program as needed. Help capture the energy and impact of the program through participant engagement and storytelling support. Flag participant, facilitator, or logistical concerns to the Program Assistant or Executive Director. Arrive on time and be present, prepared, and engaged for each session. Qualifications & Experience Experience hosting, presenting, facilitating, or speaking in front of groups. Strong communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. Comfortable working with youth, facilitators, artists, and community members. Experience in community programming, arts programming, media, events, or youth engagement is an asset. Experience or interest in marketing, promotions, storytelling, or media is an asset. Organized, reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the full workshop schedule. Able to take initiative and support the team without always being directed. Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced environment. Experience working with marginalized communities is considered an asset.
