The Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator is responsible for the overall coordination and effective use of the College’s Learning Management System (LMS) application and related learning technologies. This role leads the day-to-day management of the LMS platform, supports the implementation of new features and technologies, and serves as the primary contact for LMS-related guidance and support.

Specific Duties

  • Leads the coordination, maintenance and administration of CNC’s Learning Management System and other learning technologies ensuring that all regulatory compliance needs are met and safeguards data accuracy and integrity.
  • Oversees LMS workflows and timelines providing guidance on processes with other CNC departments as required.
  • Maintains data integrity rules and processes for the LMS and coordinates the resolution of data or access issues in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Leads in the development and administration of the LMS processes and tools to support effective and efficient use across the College.
  • Supports the recording and documentation of training activities and templates to ensure records are complete.
  • Evaluates functional requirements related to LMS usage and recommends configuration options in consultation with Information Technology Services (ITS) and other stakeholders Coordinates system updates and collaborates with ITS on upgrades, configurations, and access testing.
  • Supports in the creation of course shells and advises the processes for the transfer of course materials.
  • Supports instructors in managing archival and resource upload processes as needed.
  • Monitors user accounts; maintains user access; and sets and supports the assignment of appropriate security roles and access levels in collaboration with necessary stakeholders.
  • Liaises with ITS and other departments to support LMS functionality; collaborates on troubleshooting and ensuring system viability.
  • Liaises with external agencies regarding LMS access or integration needs to ensure compatibility with CNC procedures and standards.
  • Assists with routine technical support inquiries related to LMS access or navigation, referring more complex issues to appropriate support teams.
  • Provides technical support and facilitates basic workshops or orientation sessions focused on tool functionality and access, without delivering instructional or pedagogical training.
  • Develops and maintains user guides, how-to resources, and step-by-step training materials to support effective use of the LMS and related educational technologies. Serves as a resource person for faculty and staff on CTL- related activities and initiatives.
  • Provides occasional administrative support for CTL (e.g., email monitoring) during absences of administrative staff.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Recognized two (2 ) year diploma in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Computer Science, Education, Information Technology, or Learning Management Systems or other related field of study

  • 3 years or more demonstrated directly related experience in educational technology support, including administration of Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodie), course setup, and user support

  • Advanced knowledge of learning management systems including understanding course structures, setting up courses and programs, and supporting system configuration and functionality.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and exemplary interpersonal skills including relationship-building, trust development, tact, and professionalism.

  • Familiarity with privacy, data integrity, and compliance requirements related to LMS use in a post-secondary context.

  • Proven ability to gather, analyze, integrate and summarize complex and varied information and data, and to provide accurate, and timely communication, support and advice.

  • Ability to support and guide others in the use of tools and systems, including demonstration of system features and responding to user questions. A Train-the-Trainer or Instructional Skills Workshop would be an asset.

  • Experience in the coordination, implementation, and management of technology-related projects.

  • Technical proficiency, including a working knowledge of information systems, data workflows, and reporting tools relevant to learning technologies.

  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills; including tables, mail merge, graphics, page layout and formatting.

  • Intermediate desktop publishing skills

  • Advanced database and spread sheeting skills.

  • Demonstrates initiative and effective judgment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Works calmly and effectively under pressure.
