Description
As part of the Information Services and Biomedical Team, the Biomedical Technologist functions within the on-site biomedical maintenance program. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing daily technical support and completing preventative maintenance related to clinical allied health and support services equipment.

Qualifications
-
Grade 12 or equivalent required.
-
Must be a graduate with a diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution
-
Independent work experience within the past two years related to clinical biomedical technology and maintenance in an acute Hospital setting
-
Strong organizational, decision making and problem solving skills
-
Strong oral and written communication skills
-
Proficiency in use of computer applications including Microsoft programs
-
Good hearing ability in order to recognize sounds that indicate equipment malfunctioning, emergency sirens, paging and warning devices
-
Colour vision to identify colour coded wires
-
Have numerical ability to compute arithmetic calculations, in testing, installing and estimating
-
Spatial perception to visualize equipment and layout of the relationship of parts from circuit diagrams or drawings
-
Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to handle parts and use hand tools, power tools and test equipment
-
Ability to work rapidly under emergency conditions
-
Ability to handle a variety of changing duties resulting from the complexities of electronic apparatus and equipment
-
Adaptability to work in situations involving exposure to high voltage wiring, heights, confined spaces, moving parts, chemicals, odours, dust, adverse weather and environmental conditions such as heat, humidity, and cold

Must be physically capable of performing the essential duties of the job

About Lake of the Woods District Hospital
The Lake of the Woods District Hospital was founded in 1897, and was originally known as the Rat Portage Jubilee Hospital and then the Kenora General Hospital. Through the years a series of additions and renovations took place to meet the expanding needs of the population. On May 1, 1968, the St. Joseph's Hospital and the Kenora General Hospital amalgamated to form the Lake of the Woods District Hospital. Treating well over 30,000 people per year, Lake of the Woods District Hospital is Northwestern Ontario's largest hospital outside of Thunder Bay.
The Hospital's core programs include emergency and ambulatory care, chronic care, mental health, maternal and child health, and acute care services which include general medicine, intensive care and surgical services.
