The Housing Operations branch plays a critical role in ensuring effective management of over 900 community housing units across 14 communities, territory wide. The branch is responsible for the day-to-day operations related to community housing, including lease management, rent collection, and tenant communication. Additionally, the branch provides support services to tenants to help them maintain their tenancies successfully. This may involve supporting changes in a tenant’s financial situation, or addressing issues that could jeopardize the stability of tenancies. Ultimately, the branch strives to create a safe, supportive, and well-managed environment and community for all tenants.
The Housing Operations branch also administers rent subsidy programs designed to help low- to moderate-income clients with the high cost of housing. These programs are crucial to supporting clients maintain housing stability and enabling clients to focus on other aspects of their well-being.
The opportunity…
This is a permanent, full-time position, working 75 hours bi-weekly.
Reporting to the Director, Housing Operations this position will provide support to the Housing Operations branch, to ensure fair and equitable services to Yukoners throughout the territory, by supervising and supporting the Supervisor, Whitehorse Housing Operations, Supervisor, Community Housing Operations, and Supervisor, Client Services. The Manager, Housing Programs oversees 4 YHC programs: Rent Geared to Income, Employee Housing, Seniors Supportive Housing and Canada-Yukon Housing Benefit. These programs deliver core housing support, primarily related to affordability, to over 1300 Yukoners.

- Decision making skills that demonstrate the ability to be consistent and responsive while balancing the needs of clients, programs, communities and government

- Post-secondary education in Social Work, Business or a related field
- Experience in leading, managing, coaching and fostering a cohesive and dynamic team
- Experience in analyzing, interpreting, organizing and presenting data and information for a variety of audiences
- Experience managing financial resources including budgeting, forecasting and implementing financial controls
- Experience at the community level in building relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders
- Experience working with diverse client groups, preferably with vulnerable populations, including work experience in mediation and conflict resolution would be an asset
Candidates who have education, training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.
