About the role
Overview The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the execution and delivery of core HR functions, ensuring programs, processes, and services are implemented effectively across the organization. Acting as the operational lead for HR, this role bridges strategic direction from the Human Resources Director with day-to-day HR activities.
The HR Manager plays a hands-on role across recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and HR operations, while supporting and guiding junior HR team members. This role works closely with leadership to ensure HR practices are consistent, compliant, and aligned with organizational needs.
The Human Resources Manager also plays a significant role in the delivery of the firm?s external HR consulting services, contributing to client engagements, developing practical HR solutions, and supporting the execution of consulting projects across a variety of HR functions.
Responsibilities
HR Operations & Team Support
- Lead the day-to-day execution of HR services and ensure consistent application of HR processes across the organization.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and day-to-day direction to junior HR team members and students.
- Support the rollout and implementation of HR programs, policies, and initiatives.
- Monitor workflows, prioritize HR activities, and ensure timely and high-quality service delivery.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, tools, and overall efficiency.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Support and guide full-cycle recruitment processes led by HR team members, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and best practices.
- Participate in recruitment activities including role scoping, interviews, and candidate selection for key positions.
- Partner with leadership to understand workforce needs and support hiring strategies.
- Ensure onboarding processes are well-coordinated and provide a strong employee experience.
- Contribute to retention and engagement initiatives.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Act as a resource to managers for employee relations matters, including performance concerns, conflict resolution, and workplace issues.
- Support and guide performance management processes, including goal setting, check-ins, and development planning.
- Assist in handling disciplinary matters and workplace investigations, ensuring consistency and compliance.
- Reinforce a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous development.
HR Administration, Compliance & Immigration
- Ensure HR practices align with applicable legislation (ESA, OHSA, etc.) and internal policies.
- Support compliance related to immigration and workforce programs, including work permits and Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) requirements.
- Support the coordination and administration of internal government funding programs
- Maintain accurate HRIS data, employee records, and reporting.
- Support internal audits, government reporting, and policy updates.
- Assist in the preparation and review of employment documentation, including contracts and letters.
External HR Consulting
- Support the delivery of HR consulting services to external clients across a variety of industries.
- Prepare client-ready materials including reports, templates, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with the HR Director on scoping, timelines, and deliverables for consulting projects.
- Build strong client relationships through professional communication, responsiveness, and practical HR solutions.
Collaboration, Communication & Culture
- Partner with leadership to support HR initiatives, training, and organizational changes.
- Communicate HR processes, updates, and expectations clearly across teams.
- Liaise with external vendors, training providers, and regulatory bodies as needed.
- Act as a role model for HR best practices, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all HR matters.
