Job Responsibilities Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports the development and documentation of Work Processes / Set up Instructions / Operator Instructions and ensures all department employees adhere to them.
  • Monitor and control press and Toolroom department key performance indicators: quality, OEE, housekeeping, 5 S, etc.
  • Ensures department continually improves production efficiencies / quality standards as prescribed as well as all set ups done in a timely manner.
  • Respond to all tooling downtime-improvement strategies and root cause analysis and react to critical downtime events regarding tooling, schedule, quality and liaise with internal departments as necessary.
  • Verifies inventory / assigns storage of dies / material / production or service parts / bins / containers.
  • Follows / Ensures FIFO of all production / service part / material / parts / bins / containers / expendables, verifying inventory.
  • Oversees scheduling of manpower as well as schedules for parts to run in order to meet Customer Requirements JIT.
  • Oversees / Schedules with Maintenance / Tool room all PM’s on dies / equipment as well as schedules repair of bins / containers etc.
  • Develops system/ Informs Purchasing as necessary to ensure inventory level of consumables in order to ensure smooth flow of production.
  • Develops contingency plan to ensure production requirements met.
  • Provide input to the business planning process as it relates to the goals and objectives in the Department.
  • Performs / Enforces layered Audits for all department, in order to meet production / quality / financial goals and targets.
  • Participates / encourages participation in Continuous Improvement / Suggestion Programs.
  • Oversees / Conducts performance evaluations, disciplinary action, etc.
  • Ensure the production department is kept clean, tidy and in safe working condition at all times.
  • Performs / Enforces / Manages quality documentation (S.P.C.) as prescribed.
  • Promotes divisional values as well as contributes to long term goals of company
  • Full compliance with all clerical duties within MDV. Maintains / inputs and or reviews hours worked for employees under (his/her) supervision, keeps attendance / training / performance records, etc.
  • Enforces / complies with all administrative requirements within MDV as well as compliance with current Customer standards and procedures / quality programs and Environmental Management Systems Standards.
  • Enforces / complies with all Federal/Provincial Regulations including standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as Policies and Procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Attends / ensures Production Supervisors / Lead hand / Direct / Indirect attend all scheduled training/meetings and or train production personnel, bringing forward any questions at that time or to his/her Supervisor/Designee as well as keep records of such training.
  • Perform other assignments as requested by management from time to time as well as making GM / AGM aware of problems/slowdown in work area.

  • Effective use of MDV’s Escalation Process.
  • Compliance to IATF customer requirements
  • Attends all scheduled meetings and training.

  • Ensure a safe working environment by observing safe work practices and by following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties that may be assigned.

Education And Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment which includes stamping and assembly.
  • Strong management skills and organizational skills with 10 plus years experience in a manufacturing environment (at least 5 of those years at the supervisor level)
  • Thorough knowledge of all production equipment etc.
  • General knowledge of the operations of the toolroom and maintenance equipment
  • Familiar with forklifts, overhead cranes, propane refueling etc.
  • Working knowledge of all measuring equipment
  • Able to use a variety of computer applications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Good command of the English language both verbal, written and the ability to communicate to the customer
