Director, Information Technology and Systems
Permanent, Full-Time
HOURS OF WORK: 35 Hours/week
START DATE/TERM: Immediate
REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director, Information Technology (IT) and System provide leadership to the Information Technology Department, driving organizational efficiency, innovation, and long-term growth. This role ensures the seamless integration of operations with Macaulay’s IT infrastructure and systems.
The Director leads strategic planning, supervises a team of staff, mentors’ future leaders, and collaborates with the management team to align IT operations with the organization’s mission and goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic and Operational Planning:
- Develops and implements strategies for information technology and systems aligning them with the organization's goals.
- Oversee and plans the IT needs of the agency, developing the IT budget.
Governance Functions:
- Member of the Board IT Committee; support the CEO with reporting to the Board of Directors and Committees
- Supports the continuous strengthening process of Macaulay governance practices including the development and maintenance of IT policies and procedures.
- Provides knowledge and expertise to Macaulay and its community partners or other groups as requested.
- Attends external committees and meetings that relate to information technology, as required.
Infrastructure and Systems Management:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and security systems.
- Manages and maintains the organization's software, databases, and other systems, ensuring their stability and performance.
- Identifies and implements efficiencies that can be achieved through improved information systems or other means.
- Assesses and mitigates IT-related risks, ensuring security and system integrity.
- Identifies opportunities to leverage new technologies and innovative solutions to improve processes and operational performance.
- Stays informed about emerging trends and regulatory requirements to ensure the organization remains compliant.
- Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective technology investments.
Leadership:
- Supervises and mentors a team of staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment with exceptional customer service and continuous quality improvement.
General:
- Attends agency staff meetings and training, team meetings and special events.
- Maintains optimal attendance at work.
- Works in compliance with all applicable regulations and laws
- Complies with all Macaulay policies, practices, and quality standards.
- Works to further Macaulay’s mission, vision, values and strategic directions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- The following will be an asset:
- Master's degree in IT management or Business Administration is an asset
- CompTIA A+
- CompTIA Network+
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Minimum 7 years of management-level experience in IT and systems.
- Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and supervisory skills.
- Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and with executive leadership.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and driving operational excellence.
- Proficiency in systems architecture, administration, networking, cybersecurity, and support.
- Superior analytical, problem-solving and resolution skills.
- Acceptable Vulnerable Police Record Check.
SALARY: Director, Information Technology and Systems Salary Scale (Starting at $131,913 - $145,248 per annum) with Competitive Benefits Package (health, dental & pension plan) and paid time off entitlements (starting at 20 vacation days & 5 float days).
