ROLE
The Health Records, Correspondence; reviews requests for personal health information and responds to these in a timely manner. They are responsible for participating in the development/maintenance of systems and processes and assisting other staff related to access, disclosure, retention, storage and destruction of personal health information issues.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)
- Grade 12 Education
- Medical Office Certificate/Two Year Health Records/Information Management or related Program
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of privacy legislation and legislation related to the retention of personal health information
- Knowledgeable in mainframe and personal computer applications
- Ability to handle confidential information with tact and diplomacy
- Superior organizational skills
- Able to prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work with other members of the healthcare team, external agencies and the public
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of chart documentation practices
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
- Able to meet the physical demands of the position
DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION

Related work experience in a similar position preferred

One year of office experience in a Health Records department preferred.

Minimum one year of Meditech experience preferred
