As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be part of a collaborative project team that will be made up the Segment 2 Enabling Works group, City Water Resources/Roads/Transit, Owner's Engineer, all Utility Service providers as well as numerous other interested parties. You will be responsible for the development and execution of Enabling Works project scope. Primary duties include:

  • Manage change, communication, and coordination between multiple interested parties; resolve issues, and deliver the Enabling Works program on time and on budget.
  • Ensure safety and manage ongoing relationships with third party utility providers and internal City contractors/partners.
  • Oversee the work of the utilities design team.
  • Coordinate the utility relocation process including safety, quality, environment, design, construction, progress monitoring, inspection, traffic management, and contract administration.
  • Qualify, quantify, and manage utility relocation risk; ensure that utility relocations are planned and executed in accordance with the project plan.
  • Meet with government and/or utility authorities to resolve scope, schedule, risk and/or budget issues.
  • Support the management of the Green Line CM Contractor with planning and coordination of site works, in addition to coordinating property and permitting needs.
  • Assist with the development and manage the execution of temporary and permanent traffic management
  • Provide on site support as required during construction.
  • Plan and execute additional assigned Enabling Works projects as they are identified along the Green Line alignment.
  • Provide mentorship to other members of the team.
  • Manage complex project issues and risks and facilitate effective conflict resolution.
  • Monitor all aspects of Green Line delivery, including financial accountability, contract and schedule management, contractor adherence to reference designs and performance specifications, and support for program communications during all stages of the project.
  • Perform constructability reviews for the project with support from the technical team.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Engineering, and at least 7 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work.   • Large scale utility coordination (for example: City services and 3rd party utilities) including experience with works and agreements between municipalities and utilities.
  • Civil construction experience (for example: City utility service infrastructure, roads, and building construction).
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Project, Word, and Excel.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered to be an asset.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to work effectively with internal/external partners.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with a proven ability to effectively influence others and resolve client, project, and technical issues.

Compensation: Level P4E $135,800 - 169,700 per annum

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day

work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
