Position Overview Resumes are being accepted for the position of Junior Web Developer in the Information Technology department. Reporting to the Program Manager Digital Solutions, this role will assist with responding to help desk requests for updates to our public website and intranet. This position will also assist with projects to implement new websites, web services, and online forms.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Review and implement content and design changes as directed on City websites and SharePoint sites, in compliance with accessibility and privacy legislation, as well as internal policies and workflows.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and provide production support for digital applications, websites, and CMS platforms.
  • Assist with designing, building, and maintaining public websites and web applications.
  • Help ensure the performance, integrity, and reliability of web applications and digital services.
  • Maintain high code quality through performance optimization and adherence to development best practices.
  • Deliver user support and training for web content management systems.
  • Help promote best practices and drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to digital solution projects to develop new websites and web applications.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Digital Media, Technology or a related field.
  • Experience as a Website Administrator, Front-End or Full Stack Developer building customer-facing websites and web applications.
  • Skilled in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, WordPress, Bootstrap.
  • Experience with UX and Usability design.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 Level AA regulations and AODA compliance.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both technical and business environments.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, innovative, flexible and team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint, Power Apps, and Power Automate would be an asset.
  • One back-end language e.g. C#, Node.JS, PHP, Python would be considered an asset.

Hours of work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m and 4:30 p.m. This position is eligible for hybrid and flexible work arrangement options (as per current corporate policy).

Pay/Salary Non-Union Grade 3: $66,626.56- $83,283.20

The city is a single-tier municipality governed by a mayor-council system. The structure of the municipal government is stipulated by the Ontario Municipal Act of 2001. There are currently 12 councillors and a mayor, with two councillors representing each of the six wards. The mayor and members of the city council serve four-year terms without term limits, with the next election scheduled for October 2022. Prior to the 2006 election, the mayor and city councillors served three-year terms.
