Position Details
The Communications & Marketing Team is currently seeking a Corporate Communications Advisor to join our team. The Corporate Communications Advisor will be responsible for leveraging their knowledge of communicating strategic initiatives, shaping organizational culture through effective communications, and conveying the corporate brand and voice through professional writing, including drafting key messages, speeches, briefing notes, and other materials.
The Communications & Marketing Team is part of our Corporate Services Group. This group comprises a team of service-minded individuals who are passionate about developing and implementing smart, customer-focused business processes. This team serves multiple internal customers and comprises key business enablers and trusted business partners who deliver superior customer service through collaboration, innovation, partnerships, and leadership, ensuring the best possible user experience. In alignment with the needs of Explore Edmonton, services include providing governance advice and support, offering scalable business solutions, and creating value for employees by building and facilitating connections across the organization.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading the execution of corporate communications plans, including strategic initiatives, CEO and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) communications, department/organization communications, and employee communications in alignment with the corporate voice & brand.
- Supporting the Corporate Communications Manager in the development of corporate communications plans, including strategic initiatives, CEO and ELT communications, department/organization communications, and employee communications in alignment with the corporate voice & brand.
- Participating in the Culture & Engagement Committee, or other committees, that support organizational culture.
- Drafting communications for the executive office and/or senior leadership team, in collaboration with the Corporate Communications Manager.
- Supporting the creation of corporate projects such as the annual report, business unit reports, corporate presentations, presentations to the board, and more.
- Drafting and sending messaging and materials for employee communications.
- Leading the content management of Explore Edmonton’s intranet.
- Supporting the Corporate Communications Manager in the development of communications plans for corporate initiatives, advocacy, and other projects as assigned.
- Leading the execution of corporate communications plans.
- Drafting key messages, speeches, speaking notes, briefing notes, and other communications products that support the corporate story, in collaboration with the Corporate Communications Manager.
- Providing support to Explore Edmonton business units with communications and events.
- Assisting with communications planning, message development, and execution.
- Maintaining Explore Edmonton’s industry and corporate website, including content development.
- Leading the coordination of employee events and communication, including The Way Forward and staff newsletter.
- Providing support with scheduling and task management.
The successful candidate will have:
- A Communications degree/diploma or 2 years of related work experience.
- 2 – 4 years of or equivalent experience.
- Significant analytical and evaluative skills.
- Strategic, professional, proactive, creative, and political awareness.
- Strong writing skills and the ability to adapt content for diverse audiences.
- Professionalism, strong organizational skills, and articulate communication abilities.
- The ability to draft and execute communication plans from inception to completion.
- Experience creating corporate communications products, such as reports, presentations, briefing notes, speeches, and key messages.
- Experience coordinating corporate events.
- Experience managing and editing websites, including experience with various CMS (content management systems).
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (excel, power point, word, and publisher).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- The confidence to coordinate and execute projects with supervision.
- The flexibility to work events outside regular business hours.
