The Investment & Growth Officer is a senior leadership role responsible for advancing City Council’s economic vision through long-term strategic planning, cross-sector collaboration, and a business-focused service delivery approach. Reporting to the Director of People & Partner Services, the Officer ensures Lethbridge is a city where businesses, developers, and investors find a streamlined, responsive experience.
As a business ambassador and strategic connector, the Officer will lead the City’s economic development strategy, champion service integration through a “one-window” model, and foster inclusive growth through strong partnerships with investors, developers, entrepreneurs, Indigenous partners and regional stakeholders.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the design and execution of a 5–10-year implementation plan for Council’s forthcoming Economic Development Strategy.
- Attract investment, retain and expand local business, and enhance Lethbridge’s economic competitiveness.
- Implement a “one-window” service model to improve efficiency and investor experience.
- Promote Lethbridge as investment-ready through marketing, branding, and advocacy.
- Build strategic relationships with external partners, Council, and senior government.
- Provide expert policy advice and data-driven insights to leadership and Council.
- Lead a high-performing team that champions service excellence and innovation.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economic Development, Business, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience , including 5+ years in senior leadership.
- Strong track record in investment attraction, economic development, and business engagement.
- Experience in municipal or public sector settings preferred.
- Recognized certifications such as Ec.D. or CEcD considered an asset.
- Politically astute, strategic thinker with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
