Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Care, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) supervises and directs the care provided by department staff while delivering skilled nursing care to residents in a compassionate and respectful manner. The RPN plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality, resident-centered care in accordance with established Care Plans, regulatory standards, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in assessing residents’ needs and make recommendations for updates to Care Plans
  • Provide hands-on, clinical nursing care, including medication administration and assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as required
  • Supervise and support Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to ensure consistent, compassionate care delivery
  • Maintain clear and appropriate communication across the department, with residents, families, and other care providers
  • Promote positive relationships with staff, physicians, and external care providers to optimize resident outcomes and resource utilization
  • Complete all required reports and maintain accurate records of nursing observations and procedures in accordance with company policies
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including in-services, seminars, and training sessions

Qualifications

  • Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), or eligibility for a temporary or permanent license
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medication administration practices
  • Experience in geriatric or long-term care nursing considered an asset
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends, call-ins, and holidays
  • Compassionate, resident-focused approach with a commitment to high-quality care
