Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Council’s (SRC) Rare Earth Element Division is seeking a Research and Development Manager to lead the Research and Development (R&D) team. This role oversees employees, budgets, and processes to achieve strategic goals while promoting innovation and safety.
Accountabilities

- Oversee engineering and project plans to ensure delivery on schedule, within scope, and budget
- Apply sound financial decision making to develop and manage the R&D Business Unit budget
- Direct mechanical design and engineering documentation for projects within the R&D group; oversee design standards, validate technical specifications, and maintain compliance with project requirements
- Analyze technical challenges and develop practical, innovative solutions
- Supervise preparation of documents for tendering and procurement
- Manage and support team members by setting clear objectives, providing guidance, and evaluating performance while fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment
- Support continuous employee development and enforce best practices for quality work
- Communicate effectively across departments and with senior management
- Promote SRC’s health and safety culture by directing all work to be performed safely, and lead the integration of safety into every R&D project
Qualifications

- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the engineering field, preferably process or chemical engineering
- Registration or eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) is required
- Post-graduate degrees considered an asset

- Ability to build and maintain relationships to ensure meaningful client engagement
- Good teamwork skills, with the ability to develop strong collaboration within teams
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines, while exercising sound judgment and taking initiative to complete project requirements
The chosen candidate will also be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
This position is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
