About the role
Main Responsibilities
- Provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, ensuring their safety and well‑being.
- Utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making.
- Teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
- Play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.
- Provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- If not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0).
- Minimum of two (2) years of acute care nursing experience obtained within the past four (4) years working greater than 0.70 FTE.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years nursing experience in a Calgary or Edmonton Zone Emergency Department.
- Triage and Trauma trained.
- Charge trained in a Calgary Zone Emergency Department.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Recent critical care experience (obtained within the past 3 years working greater than 0.50 FTE).
- ENCP (within 4 years).
- TNCC (within 4 years).
- ACCN certification.
- ACLS (within 2 years).
