Position Details

Housing Services is seeking a skilled and motivated Housing Maintenance Technician to join our Housing team. Reporting to the Housing Maintenance Supervisor, this role supports the safe, functional, and comfortable operation of residence facilities by responding to maintenance requests and performing preventative and corrective maintenance across housing buildings.
This position plays a key role in day to day operations and resident support and requires participation in a rotating on call schedule to respond to after hours maintenance issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to and complete maintenance work orders within residence facilities

  • Perform plumbing related maintenance, including but not limited to:

    • Plugged toilets and sinks
    • Minor plumbing repairs and troubleshooting
  • Complete unit inspections

  • Carry out general maintenance tasks such as:

    • Carpet repair
    • Re hanging cupboard doors
    • Countertop and drawer repairs
    • Minor drywall repairs
    • Furniture moving and setup
    • Garbage and debris removal
    • Assist with residence move in and move out as re
  • Replace batteries (e.g., Genetec)

  • Support preventative maintenance programs

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Position Qualifications

  • Previous experience in general maintenance or repair work, including basic plumbing

  • Practical knowledge of maintenance tools, equipment, and techniques

  • Strong problem solving skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Positive attitude and strong commitment to customer service

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Willingness to learn and expand technical skills

  • A valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is required.

Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)

$3,264.00 - $3,618.00 monthly

Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)

$3,264.00 - $3,972.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 5)
