About the role

**Term of App't:**Monday - Friday, 17.5 hours per week

**Reporting to:**Campus Administrator

Salary:

Classification 8 $24,337.53 - $25,090.24 annually in accordance the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Benefits include: 59.50 vacation hours annually (pro-rated and front loaded), extended health and dental benefits after 6 months of employment, leave entitlements for family and personal illness, medical appointments, and other special leaves. Christmas closure is paid time off from December 25 – January 1 each year.

This position receives an additional $0.67 per hour for Chetwynd isolation allowance.

Description:

To provide general janitorial, maintenance and some specific security duties for the campus. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the facility is secured and locked and resetting security systems after power failures.
  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, polishing floors, and emptying garbage.
  • Performing general grounds work to maintain lawns (watering, weeding, applying fertilizer and herbicides as required).
  • Shoveling sidewalks during winter months (applying sand and salt as required).
  • Performing minor maintenance and repairs such as painting, adjusting doors, unplugging toilets, and changing pumps and valves.
  • Minor electrical repairs such as changing light tubes/bulbs.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Previous maintenance experience.
  • Heavy physical effort is required to operate cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment (e.g., weed trimmer, lawn mower, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Current and valid Driver's License.

Preferred:

  • Institutional custodial training and experience.
