Summary of Duties
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre has an opportunity for a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide comprehensive swallowing and communication services to patients in the Tory Trauma Program. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with patients, families and interprofessional team members to provide evidence-informed best practice.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan, implement and monitor swallowing
- Maintain patient records and workload measurement in accordance with facility and professional standards
- Act as an SLP resource to the SLP team, the interprofessional team, families and students
- Maintain and upgrade skills and knowledge through continuing education and seek opportunities for knowledge dissemination
- Participate in SLP clinical education and interprofessional education activities
- Participate in SLP Professional Council, Program and hospital-wide meetings, committees and planning as required
- Practice in accordance with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario
Qualifications/Skills:
- Current CASLPO registration
- Previous experience working with fragile patients in an acute care environment, including ICU
- Experience with dysphagia and cognitive-communication assessment and management essential
- Experience with video fluoroscopic evaluation of swallowing required
- Demonstrated commitment to student education
- Demonstrated commitment to Person-Centred care
- Excellent communication and time-management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of intra- and interprofessional teams
