Position Summary Clinical Team Manager, Orthopaedic In-patient unit and Pre-Operative Clinic Your goal in this position is to ensure operational and clinical excellence, while facilitating the provision of an outstanding patient and family experience. You will do this by providing outstanding leadership and accountability, and the promotion of evidence-based care. You will actively participate in and support Program and Corporate Quality Improvement endeavors. As the Clinical Team Manager, you will lead supervision for all nursing and inter-professional staff and will promote excellence in surgical patient care. You will direct, coordinate and supervise all daily activities related to Orthopaedic Surgery and Preoperative clinic and ensure the provision of high-quality service. The Clinical Team Manager brings a high level of operational expertise and leadership skills to a diverse care team. The Clinical Team Manager mentors and coaches members of the team to ensure all roles are essential in providing a safe and healthy environment. You will contribute to program development, research and academic development of future health care professionals, in order to promote the integrated care model. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families. Clinical team managers are:

On a practical level, you will

  • Provide leadership and accountability at clinical and operational level for a high quality and safe patient/family experience (through virtual and in person management).
  • Promote best practices and evidence-based care through the implementation of initiatives that are aligned with the organization’s strategic direction.
  • Manage on a day to day basis the physical, financial and human resources of the clinical areas in line with the mission, vision, values and strategic direction of the organization.
  • Ensure clinical and regulatory compliance of the team by supporting inter-professional practice improvement through virtual and in person visits.
  • Lead and support change management and team development initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with required Health & Safety, environmental and other legislative requirements.
  • Build relationships with peers and other contacts across the organization and externally to create opportunities for synergy/integration.
  • Demonstrate leadership, with a lens of strong patient/family and service focus
  • Have Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations, related both to employment law and areas of functional responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with a minimum of a Master’s degree (or in progress)
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum three (3) years clinical management or leadership experience
  • 3-5 years clinical experience in surgical nursing is an asset
  • Experience in Surgical orthopaedic preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential, with a lens of strong patient/family and service focus
  • Management and supervisory experience .
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills, combined with excellent organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to achieve outcome.
  • Strong people/project leadership skills, with ability to give feedback
  • Strategic conceptual thinker, with ability to integrate systems thinking into operations
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations, related both to employment law and areas of functional responsibility.
  • Financially astute and responsible in the management of budgets.

This is a Full-Time Regular position, 75 hours bi-weekly, with required day shifts and On - Call in the Surgery-Ortho Unit.
