Communications System Engineer (Aviation)
About the role
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Avionics & Communication Systems Lead to support the design, integration, testing, and certification of aircraft avionics and communication systems. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership across avionics development programs, working closely with engineering, certification, suppliers, and flight test teams to ensure system performance, safety, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and integration of avionics and communication systems for aircraft programs. Define system requirements, architectures, interfaces, and performance criteria. Coordinate activities between avionics, electrical, software, systems, and certification teams. Support system design reviews, verification activities, and technical issue resolution. Manage avionics suppliers and evaluate technical deliverables. Develop and review system documentation, including requirements, test plans, and certification artifacts. Support ground and flight testing activities, including troubleshooting and data analysis. Ensure compliance with applicable aviation standards and regulatory requirements. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Avionics, or a related field. 4+ years of experience in avionics, aircraft systems, or aerospace engineering. Strong understanding of aircraft communication systems, navigation systems, and avionics architectures. Experience with system integration, verification, validation, and certification activities. Knowledge of aviation regulations and standards such as FAA, EASA, DO-178, DO-254, ARINC, or related standards. Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting aircraft development or certification programs. Familiarity with Flight Management Systems (FMS), VHF/UHF communications, SATCOM, ADS-B, TCAS, or navigation systems. Experience with flight test support and avionics troubleshooting. Previous experience leading cross-functional engineering teams.
