About the role

Dias is a world leader in deploying solutions to help explore, map, and protect the subsurface. We operate globally from our home in Saskatoon with Canadian offices in Toronto and Vancouver, and international offices in Australia, Mexico, and Chile. We are currently looking for a skilled and dedicated individual to grow our team and ensure that Dias is a great place to work.

Dias Geophysical is looking for individuals with a passion for the outdoors and those who thrive in harsh mountain environments.

You will be part of a diverse team of technicians, geophysicists and outdoor enthusiasts conducting state of-the-art geophysical surveys in remote locations in all geographic regions and weather conditions, for up to 1 month at a time.

Your responsibilities will include embracing our progressive HSE practices and procedures and continue with carrying out a variety of duties related to our field activities- this work entails digging, lifting, carrying, hiking, driving and other physically demanding activities.

Prior geophysics/geoscience experience an asset but most importantly we are looking for people who work well in a team, love the outdoors and have experience in mountainous terrain, and have a strong adherence to safety.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Physically able to hike up to 10 hours per day through rugged terrain with a backpack weighing up to 40lb.
  • Experience working or recreating safely off-trail in mountain environments.
  • Good sense of direction and bush navigation skills- prior experience with map, GPS and compass an asset.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, in person, over email, and in the field using a handheld radio.
  • Strong safety record and adherence to HSE systems.
  • Experience working around helicopters an asset.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally. Preferably possesses a valid Canadian passport.
  • Other language skills (particularly Spanish) an asset.
  • Ability to solve problems in the field with the tools and materials at hand.
  • Ideal candidate would have some mechanical and electrical repair experience.

Job Type: Contract, full time.

Location: Global with a concentration in Western Canada.

Applicants from BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan preferred.
